Biography

From Patrickwell, Co Limerick, Murray came through the Munster Rugby Academy and his rise has been meteoric.  He completed his three years with the academy at the end of season 10/11 and then secured a senior contract. While in the Academy Conor made his Munster senior debut as a replacement against the Sale Sharks in the 2009 pre-season game in Musgrave Park.

Then his competitive debut included a very brief appearance as a blood replacement in Galway in the Magners League. His second outing in the Munster shirt was as a 78th minute replacement against the touring Australians in November 2010.

A year later he had established himself as first choice scrum half for Munster and for Ireland starting for the national side in the World Cup in New Zealand.

The 24-year-old now has 19 international caps to his name having made his Test debut against France in a World Cup warm up in Bordeaux in August 2011. Since then he has become the regular starter in the Ireland number 9 shirt.

Murray was named in Ireland's training squad for the 2013 Six Nations Championship on 17 January 2013. He started at scrum-half for Ireland's opening 22-30 win against Wales on 2 February 2013, their 6-12 defeat to England on 10 February 2013, and the 12-8 loss to Scotland. He put in an outstanding performance to win the Man-of-the Match award in Ireland's 13-13 draw with France.
