Ireland wing Simon Zebo, 23, has become the third player to be called up to the British and Irish Lions squad on tour in Australia to cover Tommy Bowe after a undergoing an operation to repair a broken bone in his hand from the match against the Reds on Saturday.
Zebo joins England prop Alex Corbisiero and Scotland loose-head Ryan Grant in receiving a summons to join the original squad after injuries to Cian Healy and Gethin Jenkins.
Jenkins is out of the tour since a scan showing that his calf strain has not yet healed, since aggravating it on Friday. Ryan Grant has been called to cover along with Alex Corbisiero who will be covering for injured Healy.
"It's the top of the game. To call myself a Lion is the greatest honour," said Grant.
"What can you say? It's been so fast I've not really had time to process it.
"This time last year I got my first cap. Now I'm heading out to Australia to represent Scotland for the Lions."
"Given Cian's injury we have decided to bring Ryan in," said Gatland.
"He has played well in the RaboDirect PRO12 this season and for Scotland in the RBS 6 Nations and we look forward to him and Alex Corbisiero arriving tomorrow."
